Introduction!

Hello all! My name is Selena and I go by her/she pronouns! I was born and raised in Saint Louis. I am in my junior year here at SLU and I am majoring in Communications with a focus in Journalism and media studies! My two minors are Italian studies and Women's and Gender studies! I was introduced to women's and gender studies when a faculty member came in to my LGBTQ+ literature class. I really enjoyed that class, so I figured I'd minor in it and am so glad that I did! My minor is fairly recent, but since then I have taken classes such as Witches and Madonna's in Italy and Introduction to Sexuality. I am currently taking a class called Stereotyping and Bias in Mass Media which I believe will be helpful and very relevant to this course! Overall, I really enjoy all of the topics that fall under WGS!

One of my favorite past times is reading. I'm very passionate about it and I like to read things that are relevant to what I'm learning in class. While I don't have a lot of time to read with my course load, I do always try to fit in a few pages a day! A few of my favorite novels I have read that have been educational and apply to WGS are:

On the other hand, I also love films and going to the cinema. Here are a few recommendations with the trailers linked:

Thanks for reading my introduction and I hope we can make this a shared learning experience!
